熱愛運動的24歲許小姐，2年前至日本參加滑雪團，滑雪過程中不慎摔傷右膝，當下右膝無法彎曲伸直，經過20分鐘的休息後，才慢慢恢復膝關節的活動度
返國後，許小姐經常性發生運動後右膝腫痛，甚至在2年內發生過3次積水，至診所抽積水治療
不堪右膝患疾困擾的許小姐至骨科門診就醫，經核磁共振檢查診斷為右膝外側“半月板破裂＂，合併軟骨受損
經過微創膝關節內視鏡手術處置後，許小姐開心地恢復原本的運動習慣，不再受右膝疼痛所苦
半月板是位於膝關節內介於股骨及脛骨之間的軟骨，可分成內側及外側二部份。因其形狀似弦月，故稱之為〝半月板〞軟骨。半月板之於膝蓋，就如同汽車的避震器，可吸收膝關節所承受的壓力，此外亦可提供膝關節更多的穩定性及增加關節面的潤滑度，其重要性可想而知。
至於什麼原因會造成膝關節半月板軟骨傷害？當膝關節呈扭轉或彎曲姿態時，遭受如運動傷害、車禍等過度的外力，導致膝關節半月板軟骨的破裂。至於半月板傷害的好發年齡層，根據國內外統計的結果，是介於20歲到40歲之間，且男性多於女性，這可能和年輕男性活動力較高，相對地其受傷機會也高所致。至於中、老年人，大多是屬於退化性半月板軟骨的問題，這和因外傷所引起者有所不同。
一旦膝關節半月板受到傷害，通常病人會有膝關節水腫；靠近內側或外側關節面疼痛；行走時覺得膝關節有異物感，甚至是當膝關節彎曲後不敢用力伸直等症狀；若置之不理，破裂的半月板更可能會刮傷珍貴的膝關節軟骨，造成難以回復的軟骨損傷。
隨著醫療科技的進步，現在可以利用微創膝關節內視鏡治療半月板破裂，針對於大幅度的破裂可以藉此縫補，小幅度的破裂可以利用膝關節內視鏡手術切除清創，術後經過適當保護與復健後，可以回復到受傷前的運動水準。
近年來，國內運動風氣健勝，膝關節運動傷害的病例越來越多。希望民眾對膝關節半月板軟骨的傷害有更深一層的認識，若有此類的膝關節傷害，一定要及早就醫治療，以免延誤治療的黃金時機。
